In January, we were assigned to new groups for the spring semester. We use these groups for our consulting projects and other course activities throughout the semester.
To kick off the semester in our new teams, Dr. Sroufe and Professor Ramos presented the cohort with the Marshmallow Challenge. The challenge encourages teams to experience simple but profound lessons in collaboration, innovation and creativity. The exercise was quite simple: In 18 minutes, teams built a free standing structure out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of tape, one yard of string and one marshmallow. The marshmallow had to rest on top without breaking the structure.
It was a great teambuilding event, which resulted in useful insights about the work habits and talents of our new team members, but only two standing structures. Congrats to Team #2 for creating the tallest structure!
